Converting decimal hours to hours and minutes
Let's take 4.75 decimal hours as an example. The number to the right of the decimal point is the value of the decimal place, i.e., 0.75. This number must be multiplied by 60 to obtain the value in minutes [min]. 0.75 * 60 = 45 minutes [min]. The number to the left of the decimal point is the integer part, which in this example is 4. This number can be taken unchanged, which means that we have 4 hours [h]. In total, 4.75 decimal hours thus result in 4 hours [h] and 45 minutes [min].
Converting hours and minutes to decimal hours
To convert hours [h] and minutes [min] to decimal hours, divide the minutes [min] by 60 and add them to the hours [h]. As an example, let's take 2 hours [h] and 42 minutes [min]. Divide the 42 minutes [min] by 60, which gives 0.7. Now add this result to the 2 hours [h] and you get 2.7 decimal hours.
- Decimal hours = hours [h] + (minutes [min] ÷ 60)
