Number of supported units: 23
Last update: 2026

This time converter supports 23 time units, allowing you to convert between all commonly used time units. All conversions are performed in real time, with results displayed up to 20 decimal places to ensure maximum accuracy.

Two Steps to Your Result

Step 1: Select the required units

Our time converter offers several input fields, each displaying the current unit symbol (for example, min, h or decade). To change a unit, simply click on the unit symbol and select your preferred measurement from the dropdown menu.

Step 2: Enter your value

Once you have selected the desired units in the time converter, simply enter the value you want to convert. You can input numbers into any of the available fields. As soon as you enter a value in one field, all other fields will automatically update and display the converted results. Both the entered value and the calculated results are automatically rounded to the predefined number of decimal places.

Add-on features

At the bottom of the time converter, you will find two green buttons. The button on the right resets the converter to its default state. This restores all units, values, and decimal settings to their original configuration. The button on the left clears the current inputs by setting all values to zero, while keeping your selected units and decimal settings unchanged.

Conversion table for time units

Time specifications are always given with a numerical value and the corresponding unit. A conversion table can be used to determine the value of the known time specification in another unit. For example: How many seconds [s] are in 24 hours [h]?. In most cases, however, such a table is used to determine the appropriate calculation method for converting one time unit into another. Due to their complexity, conversion tables can be somewhat confusing, making them difficult for beginners to understand.

The following tool is available as a solution to this problem, allowing conversion factors and calculation methods to be queried directly from the conversion table. The conversion table covers a total of 23 internationally common units of time.

Converting time in everyday life

There are many units of time that are rarely used in everyday life. These include, for example, picoseconds [ps], femtoseconds [fm] or julian years. It is also rather unlikely that conversions will be made between a very small unit of time and a millennium [mill.]. For this reason, it is not necessary to know all conversion values by heart. However, there are units of time that are used very frequently in everyday life. For example, seconds [s], minutes [min], or hours [h]. For these units of time, it can be very helpful to know the calculation method and the conversion value by heart.

Converting hours and minutes

Hours [h] and minutes [min] are among the most important units of time we use in our everyday lives. For this reason, it is important to know the calculation method and conversion value by heart. Since one hour [h] consists of 60 minutes [min], a conversion value of 60 is used. The value in hours [h] multiplied by 60 gives the value in minutes [min]. Dividing the value in minutes [min] by 60 gives the value in hours [h].

  • Minutes [min] = hours [h] * 60
  • Hours [h] = minutes [min] ÷ 60

Converting minutes and seconds

Since one minute [min] consists of 60 seconds [s], a conversion value of 60 is used. The value in minutes [min] multiplied by 60 gives the value in seconds [s]. Dividing the value in seconds [s] by 60 gives the value in minutes [min].

  • Seconds [s] = minutes [min] * 60
  • Minutes [min] = seconds [s] ÷ 60

Converting hours and seconds

As shown in the two previous examples, one hour [h] consists of 60 minutes [min]. One minute [min] consists of 60 seconds [s]. Thus, one hour [h] consists of a total of 3,600 seconds [s]. The conversion value between the two units is therefore 3,600. The value in hours [h] multiplied by 3,600 gives the value in seconds [s]. Dividing the value in seconds [s] by 3,600 gives the value in hours [h].

  • Seconds [s] = hours [h] * 3,600
  • Hours [h] = seconds [s] ÷ 3,600
