Converting decimal minutes to days and hours

The conversion of decimal minutes to days [d] and hours [h] is best explained with an example. 1,800 decimal minutes are used as the starting point for the calculation example. First, this value is divided by 1,440 to calculate the number of decimal days. The result of this calculation is 1.25 decimal days. The number to the left of the decimal point is the integer part, which in this example is 1. This number can be taken unchanged and corresponds to the final result of 1 day. The number to the right of the decimal point must still be converted into hours [h] by multiplying it by 24. 0.25 * 24 equals 6 hours [h]. In total, 1,800 decimal minutes correspond to 1 day and 6 hours [h].

Converting days and hours to decimal minutes

To convert days [d] and hours [h] to decimal minutes, multiply the days [d] by 24 and add them to the hours [h]. The result of this calculation must then be multiplied by 60.
