Weight Converter
Created by: tinycalcs.com/en
Number of supported units: 26
Last update: 2026
This weight converter features 26 weight units. This makes it possible to convert between American, British, and metric weight units as desired. All weight measurements are converted in real time and displayed with up to 20 decimal places, ensuring sufficient accuracy.
Two Steps to Your Result
Our weight converter offers several input fields, each displaying the current unit symbol (for example, mg, g or kg). To change a unit, simply click on the unit symbol and select your preferred measurement from the dropdown menu.
Once you have selected the desired units in the weight converter, simply enter the value you want to convert. You can input numbers into any of the available fields. As soon as you enter a value in one field, all other fields will automatically update and display the converted results. Both the entered value and the calculated results are automatically rounded to the predefined number of decimal places.
At the bottom of the weight converter, you will find two green buttons. The button on the right resets the converter to its default state. This restores all units, values, and decimal settings to their original configuration. The button on the left clears the current inputs by setting all values to zero, while keeping your selected units and decimal settings unchanged.
Conversion table for weight units
A weight measurement is always given with a value and the corresponding unit. A conversion table allows you to convert the value of a known weight into another unit. Example conversion: How many decagramms [dag] are in 1 kilogramm [kg]?. In most cases, a conversion table is used to determine the appropriate conversion value or calculation method for converting one unit of weight into another. However, the conversion table is relatively large and confusing, making it difficult for inexperienced users to understand.
The following tool offers a solution to this problem, allowing conversion values and calculation methods to be retrieved directly from the conversion table. The conversion table comprises a total of 26 weight units for American, British, and metric weight measurements.

Converting weights in everyday life
There are many units of weight that are rarely used in everyday life. These include, for example, gigatons [Gt], picograms [pg] and stone [st.]. It is also unlikely that a very small weight measurement will be converted into kilotons [kt]. For this reason, it is not necessary to memorize all conversion values. However, there are units of weight that are used very frequently in everyday life. Examples include grams [g], kilograms [kg], metric tons [t] and pounds [lbs]. For these units of weight, it can be very helpful to know the calculation method and the conversion value by heart.
Converting grams and kilograms
Grams [g] and kilograms [kg] belong to the metric system of units, which makes conversion very easy. A conversion value of 1,000 is used for the calculation. The value in kilograms[kg] multiplied by 1,000 gives the value in grams[g]. Dividing the value in grams[g] by 1,000 gives the value in kilograms[kg].
- Grams [g] = kilograms [kg] * 1,000
- Kilograms [kg] = grams [g] ÷ 1,000
Converting grams and decagrams
Converting between grams [g] and decagrams [dag] is very easy, as both units of weight belong to the same system of units. A conversion factor of 10 is used for the calculation. The value in decagrams [dag] multiplied by 10 gives the value in grams [g]. Dividing the value in grams g by 10 gives the value in decagrams [dag].
- Grams [g] = decagrams [dag] * 10
- Decagrams [dag] = grams [g] ÷ 10
Convert metric tons and kilograms
Tons [t] and kilograms [kg] are converted using a conversion factor of 1,000. The value in tons [t] multiplied by 1,000 gives the value in kilograms [kg]. Dividing the value in kilograms [kg] by 1,000 gives the value in tons [t].
- Kilograms [kg] = metric tons [t] * 1,000
- metric tons [t] = kilograms [kg] ÷ 1,000
Convert pounds and kilograms
In the US and UK, weights are usually measured in pounds. To convert between pounds [lbs] and kilograms [kg], a rounded conversion value of 2.20462 is used. The value in kilograms[kg] multiplied by 2.20462 gives the value in pounds[lbs]. Dividing the value in pounds[lbs] by 2.20462 gives the value in kilograms[kg].
- Pounds [lbs] = kilograms [kg] * 2.20462
- Kilograms [kg] = pounds [lbs] ÷ 2.20462
