Converting decimal seconds to hours and minutes

The conversion of decimal seconds to hours [h] and minutes [min] is best explained with an example. 5,040 decimal seconds are used as the starting point for the calculation example. First, this value is divided by 3,600 to calculate the number of decimal hours. The result of this calculation is 1.4 decimal hours. The number to the left of the decimal point is the integer part, which in this example is 1. This number can be taken unchanged and corresponds to the final result of 1 hour. The number to the right of the decimal point must still be converted into minutes [min] by multiplying it by 60. So 0.4 * 60 equals 24 minutes [min]. In total, 5,040 decimal seconds correspond to 1 hour and 24 minutes [min].

Converting hours and minutes to decimal seconds

To convert hours [h] and minutes [min] to decimal seconds, multiply the hours [h] by 60 and add them to the minutes [min]. The result of this calculation must then be multiplied by 60.
