Once you have selected the desired units in the area converter, simply enter the value you want to convert. You can input numbers into any of the available fields. As soon as you enter a value in one field, all other fields will automatically update and display the converted results. Both the entered value and the calculated results are automatically rounded to the predefined number of decimal places.

At the bottom of the area converter, you will find two green buttons. The button on the right resets the converter to its default state. This restores all units, values, and decimal settings to their original configuration. The button on the left clears the current inputs by setting all values to zero, while keeping your selected units and decimal settings unchanged.

Conversion table for area units

The area of a surface is always specified with a value and the corresponding unit. A conversion table can be used to determine the value of the known area unit in another unit. For example: How many square centimeters [cm²] are in 1 square meter [m²]?. In most cases, a conversion table is used to determine the appropriate conversion value or calculation method for converting one unit of area into another. However, conversion tables are often very confusing and difficult for inexperienced users to understand.

The following tool is available as a solution to this problem, allowing conversion values and calculation methods to be queried directly from the conversion table. In total, the conversion table comprises 17 area units for American, British, metric, and other area measurements.

Converting areas in everyday life

There are units of area that are rarely used in everyday life. These include, for example, square nanometers [nm²] or acres [ac²]. It is also unlikely that a very small area will be converted into square kilometers [km²]. For this reason, it is not necessary to know all conversion values by heart. However, there are units of area that are used very frequently in everyday life. Examples include square meters [m²], square centimeters [cm²], and hectares [ha]. For these units of area, it can be very helpful to know the calculation method and the conversion value by heart.

Convert square centimeters and square meters

Square centimeters [cm²] and square meters [m²] belong to the metric system of units, which makes conversion very easy. A conversion value of 10,000 is used for the calculation. The value in square meters [m²] multiplied by 10,000 gives the value in square centimeters [cm²]. Dividing the value in square centimeters [cm²] by 10,000 gives the value in square meters [m²].

• Square centimeters [cm²] = square meters [m²] * 10,000
• Square meters [m²] = square centimeters [cm²] ÷ 10,000

Converting hectares and square meters

A conversion value of 10,000 is used to convert between hectares [ha] and square meters [m²] . The value in hectares [ha] multiplied by 10,000 gives the value in square meters [m²]. Dividing the value in square meters [m²] by 10,000 gives the value in hectares [ha].

• Square meters [m²] = hectares [ha] * 10,000
• Hectares [ha] = square meters [m²] ÷ 10,000

Convert square kilometers and square meters

Square kilometers [km²] and square meters [m²] are converted using a conversion factor of 1,000,000. The value in square kilometers [km²] multiplied by 1,000,000 gives the value in square meters [m²]. Dividing the value in square meters [m²] by 1,000,000 gives the value in square kilometers [km²].

• Square meters [m²] = square kilometers [km²] * 1,000,000
• Square kilometers [km²] = square meters [m²] ÷ 1,000,000

Converting square feet and square meters

Converting between square feet [ft²] and square meters [m²] is relatively simple, even though the two units of area belong to different systems of units. A rounded conversion value of 10.7639 is used for the calculation. The value in square meters [m²] multiplied by 10.7639 gives the value in square feet [ft²]. Dividing the value in square feet [ft²] by 10.7639 gives the value in square meters [m²].

• Square feet [ft²] = Square meters [m²] * 10.7639
• Square meters [m²] = Square feet [ft²] ÷ 10.7639

Converting soccer fields and square meters

To convert between a standard soccer fields (105 m x 68 m) and square meters [m²], a conversion factor of 7,140 is used. The value in soccer fields multiplied by 7,140 gives the value in square meters [m²]. Dividing the value in square meters [m²] by 7,140 gives the value in soccer fields.
