Converting femtoseconds to hours and minutes

The conversion of femtoseconds [fs] to hours [h] and minutes [min] can best be explained with an example. The starting point for the calculation example is 5.04 * 1018 femtoseconds [fs]. First, this value is divided by (1015 * 3,600) to calculate the number of decimal hours. The result of this calculation is 1.4 decimal hours. The number to the left of the decimal point is the integer part, which in this example is 1. This number can be taken unchanged and corresponds to the final result of 1 hour [h]. The number to the right of the decimal point must still be converted to minutes [min] by multiplying it by 60. So 0.4 * 60 equals 24 minutes [min]. In total, 5.04 * 1018 femtoseconds [fs] thus correspond to 1 hour [h] and 24 minutes [min].

Converting hours and minutes to femtoseconds

To convert hours [h] and minutes [min] to femtoseconds [fs], multiply the hours [h] by 60 and add them to the minutes [min]. The result of this calculation must then be multiplied by (1015 * 60).

  • Femtoseconds [fs] = (hours [h] * 60 + minutes [min]) * (1015 * 60)
