Fuel consumption Converter
Created by: tinycalcs.com/en
Number of supported units: 7
Last update: 2026
This fuel consumption converter features 7 fuel consumption units. This allows for arbitrary conversion between different units. All values are converted in real time and displayed with up to 20 decimal places, ensuring sufficient accuracy.
Two Steps to Your Result
Our fuel consumption converter offers several input fields, each displaying the current unit symbol (for example, l/km, l/100 km or km/l). To change a unit, simply click on the unit symbol and select your preferred measurement from the dropdown menu.
Once you have selected the desired units in the fuel consumption converter, simply enter the value you want to convert. You can input numbers into any of the available fields. As soon as you enter a value in one field, all other fields will automatically update and display the converted results. Both the entered value and the calculated results are automatically rounded to the predefined number of decimal places.
At the bottom of the fuel consumption converter, you will find two green buttons. The button on the right resets the converter to its default state. This restores all units, values, and decimal settings to their original configuration. The button on the left clears the current inputs by setting all values to zero, while keeping your selected units and decimal settings unchanged.
Conversion table for fuel consumption units
Fuel consumption is always given as a value with a corresponding unit. A conversion table makes it easy to convert a known fuel consumption value into another unit. Example conversion: How much is 5.5 liters per 100 kilometers [l/100 km] in kilometers per liter [km/l]?. In most cases, a conversion table is used to determine the appropriate calculation method for converting one unit of fuel consumption into another. However, these tables are often very confusing, making them difficult to understand for inexperienced users.
The following tool provides a solution to this problem, allowing the appropriate calculation methods to be queried directly from the table. In total, the conversion table covers 7 internationally common fuel consumption units.

Converting fuel consumption units in everyday life
There are fuel consumption units that are rarely used in everyday life. These include, for example, British gallons per mile [UK gal/mi] or American gallons per mile [US gal/mi]. For this reason, it is not necessary to know all conversion values by heart. However, there are fuel consumption units that are used very frequently in everyday life. Examples include mile per gallon [US mpg], liters per 100 kilometers [l/100 km] or kilometers per liter [km/l]. For these units, it can be very helpful to know the calculation method and the conversion value by heart.
Convert kilometers per liter and liters per 100 kilometers
Converting between kilometers per liter [km/l] and liters per 100 kilometers [l/100 km] is very simple. A conversion value of 100 is used for the calculation. The conversion value divided by liters per 100 kilometers [l/100 km] gives the value in kilometers per liter [km/l]. If 100 is divided by kilometers per liter [km/l], the result is the value in liters per 100 kilometers [l/100 km].
- Kilometers per liter [km/l] = 100 ÷ liters per 100 kilometers [l/100 km]
- Liters per 100 kilometers [l/100 km] = 100 ÷ kilometers per liter [km/l]
Convert American miles per gallon and liters per 100 kilometers
The following formula is used to convert liters per 100 kilometers [l/100 km] to US miles per gallon [US mpg]: US mpg = (378.5411784 ÷ 1.609344) ÷ l/100 km. To convert US miles per gallon [US mpg] to liters per 100 kilometers [l/100 km] use the following formula: l/100 km = (378.5411784 ÷ 1.609344) ÷ US mpg. For both formulas, it is important to note that the values within the brackets are calculated first.
- Liters per 100 kilometers [l/100 km] = (378.5411784 ÷ 1.609344) ÷ US miles per gallon [US mpg]
- US miles per gallon [US mpg] = (378.5411784 ÷ 1.609344) ÷ liters per 100 kilometers [l/100 km]
Converting liters per 100 kilometers and liters per kilometer
Liters per 100 kilometers [l/100 km] and liters per kilometer [l/km] are converted using a conversion factor of 100. The value in liters per kilometer [l/km] multiplied by 100 gives the value in liters per 100 kilometers [l/100 km]. Dividing the value in liters per 100 kilometers [l/100 km] by 100 gives the value in liters per kilometer [l/km].
- Liters per 100 kilometers [l/100 km] = liters per kilometer [l/km] * 100
- Liters per kilometer [l/km] = liters per 100 kilometers [l/100 km] ÷ 100
Convert British miles per gallon and liters per 100 kilometers
To convert liters per 100 kilometers [l/100 km] to British miles per gallon [UK mpg] use the following formula: UK mpg = (454.609 ÷ 1.609344) ÷ l/100 km. To convert British miles per gallon [UK mpg] to liters per 100 kilometers [l/100 km] use the following formula: l/100 km = (454.609 ÷ 1.609344) ÷ UK mpg. For both formulas, it is important to note that the values within the brackets are calculated first.
- Liters per 100 kilometers [l/100 km] = (454.609 ÷ 1.609344) ÷ UK miles per gallon [UK mpg]
- UK miles per gallon [UK mpg] = (454.609 ÷ 1.609344) ÷ liters per 100 kilometers [l/100 km]
